Get Involved
Volunteer with us
Our amazing volunteers are integral to Liber8’s mission, and many of our services would not be available if it weren’t for them. Their dedication to giving time, energy and experience to our cause means that we can continue to ensure that professional therapy is accessible to anyone who is experiencing poor mental health or the negative impacts of alcohol misuse and / or substance use in Lanarkshire.
There are lots of different ways you can help, and your time is one of the most valuable gifts you can give. Many of our employees started with Liber8 as volunteers, so whether you have experience in the field, are looking for a career change, or have life experience that you want to use to help others – we welcome all applicants, whatever your background or commitment.
How you can get involved
We are always looking to hear from individuals who share our passion and values. There are a range of opportunities to become involved as a volunteer within Liber8, including:
- Trainee counsellors / student placements
- Qualified counsellors
- Board and steering group members

We may also consider short-term school placement / work experience; each case will be considered on its own merit.

Our Student placement scheme is no longer accepting applications for the scheme this year and will re open in 2025

To ensure we offer individuals the opportunity to progress a professional career in counselling placements there are robust criteria and guidelines for being offered a placement within Liber8. One of our criteria is that your course of study should be at least Diploma level; accredited by either BACP/COSCA/BABCP; complete a new PVG; be available to attend the 2 /3 induction evenings and attend the peer support group provided by Liber8 We advise that anyone interested arranges for a conversation with a member of our team before formally applying in order to fully understanding the requirements of the placement.
OUR RERUITMENT PROCESS FOR STUDENTS WILL REOPEN IN MAY 2025
Recruitment usually takes places during July/August of each year. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn for updates on when applications open.
Qualified Counsellors
Join Liber8 as a qualified counsellor - applications are always open, whatever your commitment.
Volunteer for Liber8 as a qualified counsellor, providing specialist counselling and group work to individuals who may have experienced substance use, trauma, PTSD, debilitating anxiety and other complex presentations. You will be expected to deliver evidence-based techniques, recommended by NICE/SIGN, as effective approaches in healing, mental health issues, dissociative disorders, grief, addictions and the effects of abuse; aimed at the treatment and resolution of the presenting issue and associated trauma. Using various therapeutic approaches, you will support clients in setting and achieving identified goals, positive outcomes and assessing and demonstrating progress to ensure timely completion of treatment.
We are looking for therapists who work in an integrative way, rather than being confined to a single therapeutic approach. Fundraise for Liber8
With your support, Liber8 ensures that professional therapy is available to anyone who needs it.
We are here to give people a helping hand to heal – to recover from their darkest hours and get ready for the brighter days ahead. Fundraising is a rewarding (and fun!) way to support Liber8 in achieving this. You could fundraise for us at an organised event, or by doing your own thing. Whether it’s running a marathon, hosting a quiz night or organising a bake sale – your fundraising efforts can help transform the lives of vulnerable people in your local community.
Every penny you raise will go towards supporting Liber8 in our mission to provide affordable counselling services to adults and young people in Lanarkshire.
We’d love to know what you have planned! Tell us about your fundraising – send us an email at admin@liber8.org.uk or contact us on Facebook or Twitter.
